PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Keishana Washington, Drexel

Washington led Drexel to a 2-0 week averaging 24.5 points per game as the Dragons seized sole possession of first place in the CAA standings. On Sunday, in a battle of the top two teams in the conference standings, Washington poured in a game-high 32 points, including 14 of Drexel’s 16 fourth-quarter points as the Dragons outlasted Delaware 65-64. On Wednesday, the senior guard tallied 17 points, six assists and four rebounds, helping Drexel erase a fourth-quarter deficit and defeat James Madison 64-61. Washington has scored in double figures all 24 games this season and ranks second in the CAA, averaging 19.3 points per game. 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Ruthie Montella, William & Mary

Freshman | Guard | Palatine, Ill. / William Fremd

Montella returned to the court after nearly a month, contributing to a pair of wins in a 3-0 week for William & Mary. In her first game back, on Wednesday, Montella chipped in all over the court. The freshman guard scored five points while recording a rebound, assist, block and steal in a 69-59 victory over UCNW. In 19 minutes off the bench against Northeastern, Montella added four points and two assists as the Tribe topped the Huskies 83-65.

HONORABLE MENTION

Sydney Wagner, William & Mary

Redshirt Senior | Guard | Phoenixville, Pa. / Spring-Ford Senior HS

Wagner led William & Mary to three wins in five days, scoring 23.0 points per game with 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals per contest throughout the week. On Wednesday, Wagner scored a game-high 21 points, adding four assists and three steals in a 10-point victory over UNCW. In the next game, the redshirt senior contributed 23 points with three assists and three steals as the Tribe defeated Northeastern (83-65). She concluded the week with 25 points, four assists, three rebounds, and one steal as William & Mary capped a 3-0 week with a 61-48 win over Hofstra.

CONFERENCE NOTES:

DREXEL TAKES A LATE LEAD: Drexel moved into sole possession of first place in the CAA standings, following a 2-0 week, with wins over JMU (64-61) and Delaware (65-64). The Dragons sit at 13-1 in conference play, followed by Delaware at 12-2, who lost its only game of the week to Drexel. Towson remains in third at 11-3 after keeping pace with a 2-0 week.

ON THE COURT AND IN THE CLASSROOM: Drexel's Tessa Brugler was named CoSIDA Academic All-District announced Thursday, Feb. 17. Brugler is the first Drexel player to earn honors since Michelle Maslowski in 2002 and is the fourth overall in program history. The graduate student has accumulated a 3.83 GPA pursuing a master's in Sports Business while averaging 14.0 points and 8.6 rebounds on the court. 

THE DRAGONS TURNING NATIONAL HEADS: Drexel has received national recognition following its program-best 16-2 start. On Feb. 1, the USBWA named Drexel the National Team of the Week following its road victories over Elon and William & Mary. The Dragons also received votes in the AP Poll on Feb. 8 and the past three USA Today/WBCA Top 25 Polls. Drexel is the first CAA team to receive votes in the AP Poll this season, while they are the second to do so in Coaches Poll and the first since Delaware in the preseason.

CAA IN THE COLLEGE INSIDER MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Three CAA teams received recognition in the latest edition of the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. Drexel, Delaware and Towson remained ranked. The Dragons and Blue Hens each moved up a spot, coming in at No. 13 and No. 21, respectively. The Tigers were slotted at No. 23. It marks the third consecutive week at least three CAA teams have been ranked in the poll. 

NOTHING BUT NET: In the latest edition of the NCAA NET rankings, three CAA teams cracked the top 100 for the first time this season. Towson ranked 75th to lead all CAA teams, while Drexel was 84th, and Delaware joined the top 100, coming in at 99th.   

DICKEY NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: On Feb. 8, Delaware's Jasmine Dickey was honored as the USBWA National Player of the Week following her impressive performance last week. Dickey averaged 38.0 points and 17.0 rebounds, posting double-doubles in wins over Charleston and UNCW. Dicky poured in a career-high 52 points and tied a career-high 18 rebounds against the Cougars before 24 points and 16 rebounds versus the Seahawks.

PROLIFIC SCORING: Delaware's Jasmine Dickey is third in NCAA women's basketball, averaging 25.3 points per game, while a pair of teams rank inside the top 25 in scoring offense. On Feb. 4, Dickey scored a career-high 52 points against Charleston, which ranks second in all-time Delaware and CAA history. She is the only player in DI with a 40+ and 50+ point performance this season. As a team, Towson ranks 18th in the nation averaging 76.7 points per game, while Charleston is 22nd with 75.6 points per game.

LOCKDOWN DEFENSE: Drexel leads the league in scoring defense and ranks second in field goal percentage defense (36.5%). The Dragons are 24th in the NCAA, allowing 55.6 ppg. Towson leads the conference in field goal percentage defense, ranking 13th nationally, holding opponents to 35.2% shooting from the floor. 

STONE COLD THIEVERY: Two CAA players are top 10 nationally in steals per game. Claudia Soriano of Northeastern ranks sixth in the NCAA with 3.17 steals per game and is ninth in total steals (73). Charleston's Jenna Annecchiarico is also ninth in total steals (73) and ranks 10th in steals per game (2.92).

DROPPING DIMES: Three CAA student-athletes rank top 35 nationally in assists per game this season. Charleston's Jenna Annecchiarico ranks 11th in the NCAA in assists per game (6.0) and 13th in total assists (150), while Aleah Nelson of Towson is 28th in assists per game (5.4) and total assists (134). Elon's Brie Perpignan is 31st nationally in assists per game (5.3) and 37th in total assists (122).

CLEANING THE GLASS: Two CAA teams are top 10 in the NCAA in rebounds per game, while a pair of athletes crack the top 30. Towson ranks sixth nationally in rebounding (45.8 rpg), while Delaware is 10th (43.8 rpg). Delaware's Ty Battle is 20th in the NCAA with 10.9 rebounds per game, while JMU's Jaylin Carodine is 29th with 10.4 rebounds per game. Battle secured a career-high 22 rebounds against Charleston on Jan. 9, which is the third-highest single-game total in the NCAA this season.  

BLOCK PARTY: Charleston's Arynn Eady recorded seven blocks against UNCG, marking the most in a single game by a CAA player this season. She ranks 25th in the NCAA, with 53 total blocks, and 31st, averaging 2.12 blocks per game. Eady has recorded at least one block in 22 of 25 games and has tallied three or more on eight separate occasions. 

TAKING CARE OF THE BALL: Drexel posts the fourth-best assist to turnover ratio (1.48) in the nation. The Dragons turn the ball over at the third-lowest rate nationally, averaging just 11.1 turnovers per game, and have the third-fewest turnovers (267) in the NCAA this year. 

FORCE MY HAND: Charleston causes havoc on defense, ranking 10th nationally in steals per game (11.9) and 18th in turnovers forced (20.48). Subsequently, the Cougars are fifth in the NCAA, maintaining a +6.92 turnover margin. Charleston has recorded 20+ steals twice this season, including a program-record 29 against Agnes Scott (Dec. 15).  

TRIPLE THREAT: On Feb. 9, Kylie Kornegay-Lucas recorded her first career triple-double, tallying 11 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 12 assists. She became the second player to post a triple-double in Towson's DI program history, and it marks the first CAA triple-double since March 1, 2018, when Elon's Shay Burnett complete the feat. Kornegay-Lucas is one of 25 NCAA DI players to record a triple-double this season. 

NON-CONFERENCE, NO PROBLEM: It was an impressive statement throughout the non-conference slate as CAA teams have combined for a 60-42 record. Six teams posted at least six wins in non-conference play, with Towson earning a league-high nine victories.  

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE: CAA teams have proved hard to beat on their home court this season, posting a 70-44 record at home, including a 38-31 record throughout CAA play. 

1K AND COUNTING: Nine CAA Players have eclipsed the 1,000 career point barrier this season. Drexel teammates Hannah Nihill and Keishana Washington surpassed the mark and now rank top 15 all-time on the Dragons scoring list. Charleston's Jenna Annecchiarico tallied the mark five days after setting the Charleston single-game points (36) record, and Elon's Brie Perpignan eclipsed the milestone the same night she set a career-high with 34 points. Additionally, JMU's Kiki Jefferson, Delaware's Ty Battle and Syndey Wanger of William & Mary eclipsed the milestone, while Hofstra's Jalen Hines and Kendall Currence of Northeastern were the most recent to accomplish the feat.

DICKEY CLIMBS DELAWARE CAREER RANKS: Senior Jasmine Dickey eclipsed 1,500 career points in the Blue Hens' win over JMU on Jan. 19. Dickey has climbed to second in Delaware program history with 1,781 career points. She also ranks top 10 in Delaware program history in double-doubles (4th/41), rebounds (7th/940) and steals (8th/195).  

NIHILL RISING IN THE DREXEL RECORDS: Senior Hannah Nihill has been a staple in the Drexel program for the past five seasons, as is evident by her name rising through the Drexel records. Nihill surpassed 1,000 career points earlier this season and currently ranks 15th on the Dragons scoring list behind her teammate Keishana Washington. She has also climbed her way in the top five of assists (4th/476), steals (4th/290) and is the program leader for games played (143). 

TEAM NOTES:

Charleston

• Charleston split a pair of games, defeating James Madison (71-69) before a setback to Towson (84-57). 

• Jenna Annecchiarioc had team-highs with 23 points and nine assists, adding five rebounds in the victory. 

• Annecchiarico leads the CAA in assists (6.0) and is second in steals per game (2.9).  

• Against Towson, Arynn Eady recorded 14 points and 12 rebounds for her 11th double-double this season. She also added 17 points in the win on Friday. 

• Eady leads the CAA in blocks per game (2.1) and ranks fifth in steals per game (2.2). She is the only player in the top five of both statistical categories. 

• On Sunday, Latrice Perkins tallied a career-high 22 points to lead Charleston. She also scored in double figures against JMU, adding 17 in the victory. 

• Charleston erased a 20-point deficit to beat JMU in Harrisonburg for the first time in program history. 

• Charleston leads the CAA in steals per game (11.9) and turnover margin (+6.92). 

Delaware

• Delaware dropped its lone game of the week to Drexel (65-64), snapping an eight-game winning streak. 

• Jasmine Dickey scored a team-high 22 points, adding 10 rebounds for her 12th double-double this season. 

• Dickey is third in the NCAA, averaging 25.5 points per game. She reached double figures in 14 straight.

• Ty Battle added 19 points and a game-high 12 rebounds to secure a double-double. 

• Battle leads the CAA with 16 double-doubles and 10.9 rebounds per game. She has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in seven straight games. 

• Tyi Skinner contributed 11 points scoring in double figures for the six straight game. She has reached double figures in 13 of the past 14 contests. 

• Despite the setback, Delaware held a 43-32 advantage in rebounding. 

• Delaware leads the CAA in offensive rebounding (16.9) while ranking second in the league in rebounds per game (43.8) and rebounding margin (+7.17).

Drexel

• Drexel went 2-0 earning wins over James Madison (64-61) and Delaware (65-64). 

• Keishana Washington averaged 24.5 points per game, including a game-high 32 against Delaware on Sunday.  

• Washington has reached double-figures in all 24 games this season and ranks second in the CAA, averaging 19.3 ppg. 

• Hannah Nihill contributed 17.5 points, 4.5 steals, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, doing some of everything.

• Nihill played in her 142nd and 143rd career games, setting Drexel's program record for most appearances throughout a career.

• Tessa Brugler added 11.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. She also had three blocks against Delaware. 

• Brugler ranks fourth in the CAA with 10 double-doubles. Previously, Drexel had three double-doubles in the past two years. 

• The Dragons lead the CAA in field goal percentage (43.0%), scoring defense (55.6 ppg), assists per game (16.4), turnovers per game (11.1) and assist/turnover ratio (1.48). 

Elon

• Elon extending its winning streak to four games following wins over Hofstra (66-53) and Northeastern (78-65). 

• Kayla Liles led Elon averaging 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. Liles recorded 18 points with 10 rebounds and a season-high seven assists against Northeastern. 

• Liles ranks fourth in the conference in steals per game (2.39). She has recorded two or more in 16 games this season. 

• Brie Perpignan added 16.5 points per game with 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per contest. 

• Perpignan has scored in double figures 15 straight games. She ranks fourth in the CAA in scoring (17.3 ppg) and third in assists per game (5.3). 

• Evonna McGill finished with 18 points against Northeastern and 10 versus Hofstra. She has reached double figures in four straight games. 

• On Friday, Bria Harmon matched a team-high with four assists, setting a new career-best. She also added eight points in the contest. 

Hofstra

• Hofstra dropped a pair of games, falling to Elon (66-53) and William & Mary (61-48).  

• Against Elon, Jaylen Hines tallied a game-high 18 points. She followed the performance with a double-double, recording 13 points and 12 rebounds at William & Mary.  

• Hines has scored in double figures, a team-high 15 games this season, including six straight. 

• Hines surpassed 1,000 career points with her effort against William & Mary. 

• On Friday, Rosi Nicholson added 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals in the effort. She has reached double figures scoring in three straight games.  

• Nicholson ranks third in the CAA with 2.4 steals per game. She has recorded multiple steals in three straight games and 14 times this season.  

• At Elon, Jaala Henry contributed in a variety of ways, tallying nine points, five rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists.   

• Jahshyni Knight tallied a season-high 17 points on Sunday, adding four steals in the effort. 

James Madison

• James Madison went 1-2, falling to Drexel (64-61) and Charleston (71-69) before a win over UNCW (73-51). 

• Kiki Jefferson averaged 19.0 points per game, including back-to-back games with at least 20. 

• Jefferson ranks third in the conference scoring 18.9 points per game. She has eclipsed double figures in 22 games this season, including 12 straight. 

• Jaylin Carodine recorded her fourth double-double this season with 10 points and 14 rebounds against Charleston. 

• Carodine ranks second in the conference with 10.4 rebounds per game. She has recorded 10+ rebounds in back-to-back games and 12 contests this year.  

• Madison Green  reached double figures in all three games, averaging 14.0 per game for the week. 

• On Friday, the Dukes were a perfect 25-for-25 from the foul line, marking a new school record for most made free throws when shooting 100% from the line.

• JMU shot a season-best 54.7% (29-53) in the victory, including 50.0% (8-16) from three. 

UNCW

• UNCW went 0-3 with setbacks to William & Mary (69-59), Towson (67-51) and James Madison (73-51). 

• Dejah Carter tallied a season-high 14 points to lead UNCW against JMU. 

• Against the Tribe, Micah Hoggatt recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double this season.

• Mary McMillan scored a season-high 11 points against the Tribe. 

• Carrie Gross matched a team-high with 10 points against Towson after nine points against William & Mary.  

• Asia Henderson recorded a season-high 10 points with four rebounds against Towson, playing a season-high 22 minutes. 

• Sierra DaCosta, who has been out the past three games, has reached double-figures, scoring in four straight games and 10 of her past 11. 

• Allie Best converted on five of her nine attempts from three throughout the week. She ranks second in the CAA in three-point field goal percentage (37.8%).

Northeastern

• Northeastern suffered a pair of setbacks, falling to William & Mary (83-65) and Elon (78-65).  

• Kendall Currence paced Northeastern, averaging 19.5 points per game, including 20 against the Phoenix as she reached 1,000 points in her career. 

• Currence has reached double figures in five straight games and 10 of 11. 

• Claudia Soriano contributed 9.0 points, 3.0 steals and 2.5 assists per game, including three steals in each contest.

• Soriano has recorded multiple steals in 20 games this season and has four or more on 10 occasions. She leads the conference with 3.2 steals per game. 

• Donna Ntambue was the Huskies' second-leading scorer against William & Mary, adding 13 points.  

• Gemima Motema added 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals at Elon.

• Camille Clement had a career-high seven points against Elon. 

Towson

• Towson completed a 2-0 week, defeating UNCW (67-51) and Charleston (84-57). 

• Aleah Nelson averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game to lead Towson. She had a game-high 26 against Charleston, marking her 11th straight game in double figures.

• Nelson ranks fifth in the CAA in scoring (16.6 ppg) and second in assists per game (5.4). She has reached double figures scoring in 22 of 24 games this year.

• Allie Kubek added 18.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, including a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards versus Charleston. 

• Against UNCW, Narrie Dodson recorded a career-high three blocks and tallied eight rebounds with six points. 

• Towson leads the CAA in scoring margin (+15.6) and rebounding margin (+8.8). 

• With the victory over the Cougars, the Tigers eclipsed their third 20-win season in program history.

William & Mary

• William & Mary earned its third win in a row, defeating UNCW (69-59) on Wednesday and Northeastern (83-65) on Friday. 

• Sydney Wagner led William & Mary, averaging 23.0 points, 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She scored at least 20 points in all three contests. 

• Wagner has scored in double figures a team-best 20 times this season, including four straight. 

• Against Northeastern, Riley Casey tallied a game-high 27 points while shooting 4-of-6 from three and 7-of-7 from the free throw line. 

• Casey leads the CAA with 3.00 three-pointers per game and ranks eighth in the NCAA. 

• Kayla Beckwith set career-highs with 15 points and eight rebounds against Northeastern. She established her previous career-high of 10 points against UNCW.

• The Tribe shot a season-best 56.6% (30-53) from the field against Northeastern, including 47.4% (9-19) from three. 

• William & Mary leads the CAA in team three-point field goal percentage, shooting 33.5% from behind the arc.
