WEEKLY HONORS:

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jasmine Dickey, Delaware 

Senior | Guard / Forward | Baltimore, Md. / Catonsville

Dickey averaged 26.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, leading Delaware to three road wins in five days. The senior guard/forward also added 2.7 steals, 2.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game throughout the week. On Wednesday, Dickey scored a team-high 29 points with 12 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block as Delaware handed Towson its first loss at home this season (81-78). She followed the performance with her fifth consecutive double-double, recording 14 points and 10 rebounds in a 66-63 win over Northeastern. Dickey capped the week by tallying 36 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three blocks to lead the Blue Hens to a 71-58 victory over Hofstra. Dickey ranks third in the NCAA in points per game (25.5) and third in the CAA in rebounds per game (9.50) this season.  

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Claudia Soriano, Northeastern 

Freshman | Guard | Barcelona, Spain / Jesuites Gràcia Col · Legi Kostka

Soriano continued her impressive freshman campaign, stuffing the stat sheet with 13.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game last week. The freshman guard contributed 18 points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block as Northeastern pushed Delaware to the brink but ultimately fell 66-63. Against Drexel, she recorded a game-high seven assists and paced the Huskies with four steals, adding eight points and four rebounds despite a setback to the Dragons.  

CONFERENCE NOTES:

CAA RACE HEATS UP: Delaware sits atop the CAA standings with a 12-1 conference record as the Blue Hens are enjoying an eight-game winning streak. Drexel, the lone team to beat Delaware, is right on their tail after improving to 11-1 in conference play. Towson remains in third place at 9-3 after defeating JMU. It will be an exciting weekend ahead as Drexel visits Delaware on Sunday for the final contest between the teams in the regular season.   

DICKEY NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: On Feb. 8, Delaware's Jasmine Dickey was honored as the USBWA National Player of the Week following her impressive performance last week. Dickey averaged 38.0 points and 17.0 rebounds, posting double-doubles in wins over Charleston and UNCW. Dicky poured in a career-high 52 points and tied a career-high 18 rebounds against the Cougars before 24 points and 16 rebounds versus the Seahawks.

THE DRAGONS TURNING NATIONAL HEADS: Drexel has received national recognition following its program-best 16-2 start. On Feb. 1, the USBWA named Drexel the National Team of the Week following its road victories over Elon and William & Mary. The Dragons also received votes in the AP Poll on Feb. 8 and the past two USA Today/WBCA Top 25 Polls. Drexel is the first CAA team to receive votes in the AP Poll this season, while they are the second to do so in Coaches Poll and the first since Delaware in the preseason.

TRIPLE THREAT: On Wednesday, Kylie Kornegay-Lucas recorded her first career triple-double, tallying 11 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 12 assists. She became the second player to post a triple-double in Towson's DI program history, and it marks the first CAA triple-double since March 1, 2018, when Elon's Shay Burnett complete the feat. Kornegay-Lucas is one of 25 NCAA DI players to record a triple-double this season. 

CAA IN THE COLLEGE INSIDER MID-MAJOR TOP 25: Four CAA teams received recognition in the latest edition of the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. Drexel, Delaware and Towson were ranked, while James Madison received votes on Tuesday, Feb. 8. Drexel was the highest-ranked team, coming in at No. 14. Delaware remained at No. 21, followed by Towson at No. 22.

NOTHING BUT NET: In the latest edition of the NCAA NET rankings, three CAA teams ranked in the top 150, with two inside the top 100. Towson ranked 76th to lead all CAA teams, while Drexel rose to its highest ranking this season at 84th. Delaware climbed one spot, coming in at 101st.   

PROLIFIC SCORING: Delaware's Jasmine Dickey is third in NCAA women's basketball, averaging 25.5 points per game, while a pair of teams rank inside the top 25 in scoring offense. On Feb. 4, Dickey scored a career-high 52 points against Charleston, which ranks second in all-time Delaware and CAA history. She is the only player in DI with a 40+ and 50+ point performance this season. As a team, Towson ranks 16th in the nation averaging 76.8 points per game followed by Charleston with 76.7 points per game, ranking 17th.

LOCKDOWN DEFENSE: Drexel leads the league in scoring defense and ranks second in field goal percentage defense (36.1%). The Dragons are 20th in the NCAA, allowing 55.0 ppg. Towson leads the conference in field goal percentage defense, ranking 18th nationally, holding opponents to 35.5% shooting from the floor. 

STONE COLD THIEVERY: Two CAA players are top 10 nationally in steals per game. Claudia Soriano of Northeastern ranks sixth in the NCAA with 3.19 steals per game and is 11th in total steals (67). Charleston's Jenna Annecchiarico is tenth in steals per game (3.09) and seventh with 71 total steals.

DROPPING DIMES: Three CAA student-athletes rank top 35 nationally in assists per game this season. Charleston's Jenna Annecchiarico ranks 11th in the NCAA in assists per game (6.0) and 15th in total assists (137), while Aleah Nelson of Towson is 23rd in assists per game (5.5) and 25th in total assists (126). Elon's Brie Perpignan is 31th nationally in assists per game (5.3) and 38th in total assists (111).

CLEANING THE GLASS: Two CAA teams are top 15 in the NCAA in rebounds per game, while a pair of athletes crack the top 30. Towson ranks seventh nationally in rebounding (45.3 rpg), while Delaware is 11th (43.8 rpg). Delaware's Ty Battle is 20th in the NCAA with 10.9 rebounds per game, while JMU's Jaylin Carodine is 29th with 10.3 rebounds per game. Battle secured a career-high 22 rebounds against Charleston on Jan. 9, which is the third-highest single-game total in the NCAA this season.  

BLOCK PARTY: Charleston's Arynn Eady recorded seven blocks against UNCG, marking the most in a single game by a CAA player this season. She ranks 19th in the NCAA, with 53 total blocks, and 21st, averaging 2.14 blocks per game. Eady has recorded at least one block in 22 of 23 games and has tallied three or more on eight separate occasions.  

TAKING CARE OF THE BALL: Drexel posts the fifth-best assist to turnover ratio (1.45) in the nation. The Dragons turn the ball over at the fourth-lowest rate nationally, averaging just 11.3 turnovers per game, and have the fourth-fewest turnovers (248) in the NCAA this year. 

FORCE MY HAND: Charleston causes havoc on defense, ranking seventh nationally in steals per game (12.4) and 18th in turnovers forced (20.96). Subsequently, the Cougars are sixth in the NCAA, maintaining a +7.04 turnover margin. Charleston has recorded 20+ steals twice this season, including a program-record 29 against Agnes Scott (Dec. 15).  

NON-CONFERENCE, NO PROBLEM: It was an impressive statement throughout the non-conference slate as CAA teams have combined for a 60-42 record. Six teams posted at least six wins in non-conference play, with Towson earning a league-high nine victories.  

TO HAVE OR NOT TO HAVE HOME COURT ADVANTAGE: CAA teams have proved hard to beat on their home court this season, posting a 61-42 record at home. However, in conference games road teams have had an even advantage, posting a 29-29 record throughout CAA play. 

DICKEY CLIMBS DELAWARE CAREER RANKS: Senior Jasmine Dickey eclipsed 1,500 career points in the Blue Hens' win over JMU on Jan. 19. Dickey has climbed to second in Delaware program history with 1,759 career points. She also ranks top 10 in Delaware program history in double-doubles (4th/40), rebounds (7th/930) and steals (8th/192).  

NIHILL RISING IN THE DREXEL RECORDS: Senior Hannah Nihill has been a staple in the Drexel program for the past five seasons, as is evident by her name rising through the Drexel records. Nihill surpassed 1,000 career points earlier this season and currently ranks 17th on the Dragons scoring list behind her teammate Keishana Washington. She has also climbed her way in the top five of assists (4th/468), steals (4th/281) and games played (2nd/139). 

1K AND COUNTING: Six CAA players have eclipsed the 1,000 career point barrier during this season. Hannah Nihill surpassed the mark on Nov. 20, followed by her teammate Keishana Washington on Dec. 14. The duo ranks top 20 all-time on the Drexel scoring list. Kiki Jefferson of James Madison joined the club on Jan. 19, becoming the most recent Duke on a long list of 1,000 point scorers. Charleston's Jenna Annecchiarico joined tallied the mark on Jan. 26, five days after setting the Charleston program record for points scored in a single game (36) against Towson. Elon's Brie Perpignan surpassed 1,000 career points after a career-high 34 on Feb. 4, while Ty Battle was the most recent member of the 1,000 point club, eclipsing the mark on Wednesday.  

DICKEY NAMED CHERYL MILLER AWARD TOP 10: Blue Hen Jasmine Dickey was named one of the top 10 candidates for the 2022 Cheryl Miller Award announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. The award named after the three-time Naismith Player of the Year and 1995 Hall of Famer, recognizes the top small forward in women’s NCAA Division I basketball.

DICKEY NAMED TO DAWN STALEY AWARD LATE SEASON WATCH LIST: Delaware's Jasmine Dickey has been named to the late-season watch list for the 2022 Dawn Staley Award announced by the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia. The award is given to the player who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed throughout her career; ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win, recognizing the top guard in women’s NCAA Division I basketball annually.  

DICKEY NAMED TO MID-MAJOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST: CAA Preseason Player of the Year, Jasmine Dickey was named to the Midseason Watch List for the 2022 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award by Her Hoop Stats. It marks the second consecutive season that a CAA student-athlete has made the Midseason Watch List. 

FRESHMEN PHENOMS: Two freshmen have shined bright in their first collegiate seasons as Charleston's Grace Abercrombie and Claudia Soriano of Northeastern have combined to take home CAA Rookie of the Week honors on nine of ten occasions this winter. Soriano leads all freshman, collecting honors six weeks, while Abercrombie has earned accolades three times.  

TEAM NOTES:

Charleston

• Charleston split a pair of close games, edging William & Mary 61-59 before falling to Elon 71-66 in overtime. 

• Arynn Eady stuffed the stat sheet averaging 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in addition to 4.0 blocks and 3.5 steals per game.

• Eady leads the CAA in blocks per game (2.3) and ranks fifth in steals per game (2.2). She is the only player in the top five of both statistical categories. 

• Jenna Annecchiarioc had a team-high 17 points with seven rebounds, six assists and four steals versus Elon. 

• Annecchiarico leads the CAA in assists (6.0) and is second in steals per game (3.1).  

• Latrice Perkins averaged 10.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game throughout the week.   

• Against William & Mary, Tyler Collins contributed 14 points, four rebounds and three assists off the bench. 

• Charleston leads the CAA in steals per game (12.5), and turnover margin (+7.14). 

Delaware

• Delaware won three road games in five days, beating Towson (81-78), Northeastern (66-63) and Hofstra (71-58). 

• Jasmine Dickey carried the Blue Hens averaging 26.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Dickey has scored 20 or more in five of her last six, including 29 at Towson and 36 against Hofstra.

• Dickey is third in the NCAA, averaging 25.5 points per game. She reached double figures in 13straight.

• Tara Cousins scored a career-high 19 points to lead Delaware over Northeastern. She 7-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-7 from three. 

• On Wednesday, Ty Battle joined the 1,000 point club, adding 14 points with 13 rebounds. She also had at least 10 rebounds in all three contests. 

• Battle leads the CAA with 15 double-doubles and 10.9 rebounds per game. She has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in six straight games. 

• Tyi Skinner averaged 15.0 points per game, scoring double figures in all three contests. She has reached double figures in five straight contests and 12 of 13. 

Drexel

• Drexel had a 2-0 week, defeating Hofstra (63-47) and Northeastern (61-48) on the road. 

• Keishana Washington paced averaged 20.0 points per game, netting 21 and 19 in each respective game. 

• Washington has reached double-figures in all 22 games this season and ranks third in the CAA, averaging 18.8 ppg. 

• Hannah Nihill contributed 13.0 points, 6.5 assists and 5.0 steals per game throughout the week. On Friday, Nihill moved into the top 10 on Drexel's all-time three-pointers list. 

• Tessa Brugler reached double figures in back-to-back games, averaging 12.5 points per game in addition to 6.0 rebounds per game.  

• Brugler ranks third in the CAA in double-doubles (10). Previously, Drexel had three double-doubles in the past two years. 

• Maura Hendrixson and Jasmine Valentine set career-highs in rebounds. Hendrixson grabbed eight against Hofstra, while Valentine tallied 13 at Northeastern.

• The Dragons lead the CAA in field goal percentage (42.9%), free throw percentage (76.0%), scoring defense (55.0 ppg), assists per game (16.3), turnovers per game (11.3) and assist/turnover ratio (1.45). 

Elon

• Elon snapped a four-game skid with a 2-0 week, topping UNCW (69-59) and Charleston (71-66/OT).

• Brie Perpignan averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. She paced Elon with 29 points against Charleston, including 10 in the OT period. 

• Perpignan has scored in double figures 13 straight games. She ranks fourth in the CAA in scoring (17.4 ppg) and is third in assists per game (5.3). 

• Against UNCW, Vanessa Taylor paced Elon with a season-best 13 points, and at Charleston, she grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. 

• On Sunday, Tyja Traore posted 10 points and 11 rebounds, recording her first career double-double. 

• Against Charleston, Peyton Carter registered a new career-high, adding nine points. 

• Kayla Liles tallied 2.5 steals per game. She ranks fourth in the conference in steals per game (2.3). She has recorded two or more in 14 games this season. 

• Five different players reached double figures for the Phoenix against UNCW.

Hofstra

• Hofstra dropped a pair of games, falling to Drexel (63-47) and Delaware (71-58).

• Jaylen Hines tallied 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. She recorded her fourth double-double this season, with 12 points and 11 rebounds against Drexel. Hines added 15 points and seven rebounds against the Blue hens.

• Hines has scored in double figures a team-high 13 games this season, including four straight. 

• Rosi Nicholson notched season-highs in scoring back-to-back games with 11 points versus Drexel and 16 against Delaware. 

• Nicholson added four steals against Delaware. She ranks third in the CAA with 2.4 steals per game. 

• Jahsyni Knight tied a season-high with 14 points to lead the Pride in scoring against Drexel. She also added five steals, three assists and three rebounds in the effort. 

• Against Drexel, Jaala Henry grabbed nine rebounds with seven coming on the offensive glass. 

• Despite the setback to Drexel, Hofstra tied a season-low with 12 turnovers in the contest. 

James Madison

• James Madison fell to Towson in its lone contest of the week 87-67. 

• Madison Green tallied a career-high 21 points in the contest, shooting 6-of-8 from beyond the arc. The six made threes also established a new career-best for Green. 

• Brianna Tinsley had a season-high 16 points, adding three assists and one steal. 

• Kiki Jefferson contributed 13 points and five rebounds in the effort.  

• Jefferson ranks second in the conference scoring 18.9 points per game. She has eclipsed double figures in 20 games this season, including 10 straight.  

• Jaylin Carodine added four points, four rebounds and three assists.

• Carodine ranks second in the conference with 10.3 rebounds per game. She has recorded 10+ rebounds in 10 games this year.    

• JMU shot a season-best 57.1% (8-14) from three-point range.

UNCW

• UNCW fell to Elon 69-59 on Friday before a 65-63 setback to William & Mary on Sunday. 

• Carrie Gross averaged 13.5 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game, including a season-high 17 points against William & Mary. 

• Gross ranks second in the CAA, shooting 85.8% from the free throw line this season. 

• Against Elon, Micah Hoggatt recorded 11 points and 12 rebounds for her third double-double this season. She also scored 15 points versus William & Mary. 

• Sierra DaCosta reached double figures in back-to-back games with 16 and 11 points, respectively. 

• DaCosta has reached double-figures scoring in four straight games and 10 of her past 11. 

• Versus Elon, Allie Best grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds and led UNCW with four steals. She also had six points and one block. 

• As a team, UNCW is second in the CAA in team free throw percentage (75.9%).

Northeastern

• Northeastern dropped a pair of contests, first falling to Delaware (66-63) before a setback to Drexel (61-48).  

• Claudia Soriano stuffed the stat sheet with 13.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 steals per game last week. She tallied 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals against Delaware.

• Soriano has recorded multiple steals in 18 games this season and has four or more on 10 occasions. She leads the conference with 3.2 steals per game. 

• Kendall Currence led Northeastern with 24 points against Delaware while adding 10 points and eight rebounds against Drexel.

• Katie May tallied a team-high 15 points against Drexel and added seven rebounds.

• Freshman Camille Clement tied her season-best with six points against Drexel.

• Northeastern ranks second in the CAA in scoring defense, allowing 60.1 ppg. Offensively, the Huskies are second in the league in team field goal percentage (42.0%).

Towson

• Towson went 1-1 last week, falling to Delaware 81-78 before topping James Madison 87-67.

• Kylie Kornegay-Lucas did it all, averaging 15.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 10.0 assists per contest over the two games. 

• Kornegay-Lucas recorded her first-ever triple-double, with 11 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 12 assists against Delaware, marking the first in the CAA since 2018.

• Aleah Nelson averaged 19.5 points per game, including a team-high 24 against Delaware. She also set a career-high for made three-pointers, going 6-of-11 beyond the arc.  

• Nelson ranks fifth in the CAA in scoring (16.6 ppg) and second in assists per game (5.5). She has reached double figures scoring in nine straight games and 21 of 23 this year. 

• Allie Kubek added 20 points against Delaware, while Anissa Rivera tallied a team-best 21 points against JMU. 

• Towson leads the CAA in scoring margin (+15.1) and rebounding margin (+8.4). 

William & Mary

• William & Mary dropped a nail-bitter to Charleston 61-59 before snapping a six-game skid with a 65-63 win over UNCW. 

• Riley Casey tallied 23.0 points per game and poured in a career-high 30 against Charleston. She also scored a team-best 16 against UNCW.

• Casey's previous career-high (27) also came against Charleston earlier this year. She leads the CAA with 3.07 three-pointers per game and ranks seventh in the NCAA. 

• Bre Bellamy contributed 10.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and four assists per game throughout the week.

• Bellamy tallied 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting against Charleston, followed by eight points on 4-of-5 shooting at UNCW. She also had a career-best eight assists against the Seahawks. 

• Sydney Wagner added 11 points against UNCW, marking her team-best 17th double-figure scoring performance this season.  

• Dani McTeer tied a season-high with 13 points and grabbed five rebounds in the victory. 

• William & Mary leads the CAA in team three-point field goal percentage, shooting 32.5% from behind the arc.
