Delaware's Jasmine Dickey Named To Dawn Staley Award Watch List
Delaware women’s basketball student-athlete Jasmine Dickey was named to the Dawn Staley Award Late Season watch list.
University of Delaware women’s basketball student-athlete Jasmine Dickey was named to the Dawn Staley Award Late Season watch list announced by the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon.
Dickey continues to add to her collection of accolades after being named to the Midseason Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award Watch List in January. She was also on the Cheryl Miller Award Watch List in the preseason on top of being named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason Player of the Year.
The Dawn Staley Award was established in 2013 to honor the nation’s best guard in Women’s Division I college basketball. The award is given annually to a player who exemplifies the skills that Dawn possessed throughout her career; ball handling, scoring, her ability to distribute the basketball and her will to win.
The late-season watch list is comprised of 17 players from 17 schools and eight conferences. The CAA is one of three mid-major conferences represented on the list along with the ASUN and MAC. The 17 players will be narrowed to four finalists in mid-March, with the winner scheduled to be announced on Thursday, April 7.
Last night Dickey poured in a career-high 52 points and tied a career-high with 18 rebounds in a Blue Hens victory. Her scoring output ranks second all-time in Delaware and CAA history, while she became the only player in NCAA DI this season to record a 40+ and 50+ point performance. The Baltimore, Md. native ranks second in the NCAA, scoring 25.4 points per game while adding 9.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest. Dickey has climbed the Delaware program ranks as the senior is fourth all-time in career points (1,658), fifth in double-doubles (36), eighth in rebounds (885) and ninth in steals (183).
