The most anticipated game in the Grand Cayman Islands over the post-Thanksgiving weekend features one of the best basketball programs ever, the UConn Women's Basketball team.

The Huskies opened the season at No.2 in the AP poll but dropped No. 8 after an early season loss. They will travel to the Grand Cayman Islands after games against Big Ten foes Maryland and Minnesota. 

And once they get there, the Huskies could be the rare lower-ranked team in their first game of the holiday tournament.

Here's what to know about UConn's trip to the Grand Cayman Islands Classic. 

When Is The Women's Cayman Island Classic?

Action begins on Nov. 24 and continues till Nov. 25.

UConn Women's Basketball Schedule At 2023 Women's Cayman Islands Classic 

Few women's basketball programs have been more successful than UConn and their Grand Cayman Islands Classic opponents are the women's counterparts to two of the men's top programs: UCLA and Kansas. 

UConn and UCLA is the marque game on Day 1 of the classic with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Nov. 24.

UConn will then play the defending 2023 WNIT Champions Kansas on Day 2 at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 25.

UCLA vs. UConn Women's Basketball Set To Be A Classic

UCLA  rose to No. 3 in the Week 2 AP Women's Basketball rankings while UConn dropped to No. 8. The Huskies will be one of the most battle-tested teams in the country by the time they get to the Caymans. UConn plays No. 20 Maryland on Nov. 16 and then travels to Minneapolis to play the Gophers on Nov. 19. 

UCLA plays Princeton on Nov. 17. They opened the season with a 92-49 over Purdue followed by wins over UC Riverside and Bellarmine. 

Is UConn vs. LSU Women's Basketball Happening at The Women's Grand Cayman Islands Classic?

No. 

LSU will play Niagara and Virginia at the classic, which is not a tournament.

Selection Sunday for the NCAA Women’s Tournament is March 17, 2024. The First Four will tip off March 20, with the Round of 64 beginning March 22.
